Everybody Workshop #4: Leadership Ministry Skills

Our Everybody: Leadership Development Workshop series comes to its conclusion at our fourth workshop coming up on Saturday, April 25 at 9:30am. Rev. Dr. Frank Guinta will be taking us through the Principles of Servant Leadership.

Christian leadership is one of the great callings of the church. Yet it is also one of the greatest areas of misunderstanding. In many settings, leadership is measured by visibility, influence, control, charisma, or organizational success. But in the kingdom of God, leadership is measured differently. Jesus did not call His followers to dominate people, but to serve them. He did not train leaders to seek titles, but to bear towels. He did not model self-promotion, but self-giving love.

Servant leadership is not weak leadership. It is not passive leadership. It is not leadership without conviction, boundaries, or courage. Rather, servant leadership is strong leadership under the lordship of Christ. It is leadership shaped by humility, guided by love, grounded in truth, and expressed in the building up of others.

In this workshop we will consider four major principles of servant leadership:

  1. Leading Like Jesus

  2. Cultivating Empathy and Active Listening

  3. Building a Culture of Accountability

  4. Developing Others through Discipleship

Each of these reminds us that Christian leadership is not merely about getting things done. It is about reflecting the heart of Christ in the way we guide, care, correct, and equip God’s people.
